ORIX Auto Infrastructure
Services Ltd (OAIS) was established as a joint venture
between ORIX Corporation, Japan (ORIX) and Infrastructure
Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS), India in
1995. Since then OAIS has provided lease financing of
Passenger Cars and installment loans for Commercial
Vehicles to automobile-related services like Car Rentals,
Construction Equipment Renting, Employee Transport Solutions
for BPOs and KPOs, Vehicle based ATM / Banking etc.
in India.
In December 2011, ORIX acquired IL&FS’s all
shares of OAIS and got its majority stake (99.98%) to
expand their automobile-related businesses in the growing
Indian market by providing the automobile business know-how
it offers worldwide. Currently, ORIX offers automobile
leasing and other related services in 19 different countries
including Japan.
ORIX is in India since 1993, when it made a capital
participation in IL&FS to expand its business in India.
IL&FS is a finance company that was established in 1988.Its
business includes commercialization of infrastructure
development in India and emerging countries in Asia,
financing of infrastructure projects through Build-
Own – Operate (BOT) model and investment banking. Its
sponsors include Central Bank of India, State Bank of
India, and Life Insurance Corporation of India.
ORIX aims to capitalize on the expertise gained both
in Japan and overseas to continue to expand its financial
service businesses that provide new value in the Indian
market where further growth is anticipated.
